Summary:The ownership of land has been a very discussed subject, especially from the perspective of the agri-exporting large estate. In this article, we privilege the agrarian properties located in the Southern Recôncavo, specifically in the municipality of Santo Antônio de Jesus, during the second half of the 19th century. In this region, small and medium-sized rural properties dominated, characterized by diversified economic production, through the cultivation of sugarcane, cassava, coffee, among others. The ecclesiastical records, inventories and Note Book of the parish of Santo Antônio de Jesus, under the custody of the Public Archive of the State of Bahia, were the main sources used in the construction of the analysis.
