Summary: | Manifold studies in the field of health deal with the engagement of lay people in the professional sphere. Psychiatry is an interesting case where this integration policy is put to test. With the approach of political anthropology of mental health, attentive to the categorization of users, this paper focuses on a local political project of user participation and lay engagement in a mental health network. The results show the paradoxes of integrating former “patients” in a network of mental health professionals and outline a typology of inclusive and segregated mechanisms. |
