description | The study comprises an attempt to specify culturalization strategies applied by the communities of schools with Polish as the teaching language in Austria, France and the Czech Republic. It was assumed that both children and adults (parents and teachers) may apply different culturalization strategies in various spheres of life and that these differences will be noticeable mostly in the public (social) and private (family) sphere. In order to describe the patterns of the respondents’ adjustment to functioning in a different environment than the culture of their origin, some selected components of Paweł Boski’s cultural model of the acquisition of biculturalism were taken into account. These were: the declared feeling of ethnic identity (of the native country) and/or national identity (of the residence country), the knowledge and use of languages (of the native and residence country), social contacts (with members of the ethnic and national group), family and school duties (in the ethnic and national group) and the granted rights (in both these groups). |
