| Summary: | CAN BARBARA CASSIN’S AND JERZY BARTMIŃSKI’S LEXICONS BE CONSIDERED AS COMPLEMENTARY PHILOSOPHICAL APPROACHES?
The article aims to present two different approaches to ‘philosophical words’ or ‘names of values’, that is Vocabulaire européen des philosophies [2004] directed by Barbara Cassin and Axiological Lexicon of Slavs and Their Neighbours [2015-2019] directed by Jerzy Bartmiński. In the first part the two projects are presented in context and compared by analyzing their differences and similarities in order to prove certain complementarity between the two approaches. In the second part the concept of freedom/ liberty is analyzed. After presenting how it is treated in the two dictionaries, the author studies the occurrences of ‘minor’ words for freedom: liberty and swoboda, in David’s Graeber Debt and its Polish translation.
