description Current paper is based on the recent proposals of researcher Krieg-Planque (2010) in his works at the interface of information sciences and language studies, foregrounded on the theoretical framework of French Discourse Analysis, evoked by the notion of discursive genesis developed by Maingueneau  ([1984] 2008). Research focuses on the phrase ‘peace culture’ within the Brazilian public space, especially in the book Cultura de Paz: redes de convivência (DISKIN, 2009), a milestone during the period of the formula´s intense propagation.  The essay shows how a consensus effect is produced on the linguistic surface of a term that, in its uses, is home to several interpretations.
