description Syndrome of multiple endocrine neoplasia of type 1 (MEN type 1, Vermer's syndrome) is a group of heterogeneous hereditary diseases whose pathogenesis is based on hyperplasia or tumoral transformation of several endocrine glands. In literature more than 20 various combinations of endocrine and metabolic disturbances within the syndrome are described. Primary hyperparathyroidism is the most frequent endocrinopathy in MEN syndrome of type 1.
