| description | Here, we report a case of chronic dacryocystitis and nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) with dacryolith containing Pleurostomophora richardsiae and Candida albicans in a female patient. She presented with 10 years of epiphora and 1 year of a recurring cyst near her right medial canthus. On examination, the patient was found to have a dilated lacrimal sac and evidence of NLDO. The patient underwent dacryocystorhinostomy, during which a dacryolith was removed, and subsequent microbiological analysis revealed the presence of P. richardsiae and C. albicans. To our knowledge, there are only two prior case reports in the literature documenting P. richardsiae related to NLDO. |
