| Summary: | In analyzing the political significance of the Portuguese revolution of 1820 and the subsequent three-year period of liberalism – a period commonly referred to as vintismo – it is essential to bear in mind what was one of its most striking features: the existence of different sensibilities or political expressions that marked the content, the scope and pace of the changes and reforms advocated by the regenerative movement. Such is the purpose of this article: to illustrate, through some moments or problems with special relevance, the way in which the political sensibilities of vintismo were expressed, in their plurality and diversity.
