| Summary: | 1829 began in Mexico with a political crisis due to the result of the presidential elections and the expulsion of the Spaniards, quite apart from the fact that both entities had its own problems. This context will be reflected in two riots that took place in the city of Sombrerete, where different demands came together as a representation of the participating social sectors. Those riots are studied as expressions of popular politics showing the tensions between ruled and rulers. For this reason, the aim of this essay is to analyze who took part in the riots and why, as well as what were the reactions of the government.
