Summary:In the 18th century there was, in Spain, a general politicization of culture. Depending onthe period, the ideological trends varied, but the close link between art and politics was a commondenominator. Through the analysis of the comedy El jugador (1774) by Pablo de Olavide (translationadaptationof Le joueur by Regnard) this paper is approaching the issue of this symbiosis between cultureand politics that would occur in Spain during the century of the enlightenment.
