Summary: | This article provides an analysis of several passages from the historical works of Alfonso the Wise that are translations of the corresponding Latin texts. The purpose is to know which modifications these sources underwent in the translation and final wording processes. We also seek to determine whether or not it is possible to assert that the Alfonsine compilers always translated all Latin or French texts into Spanish first and subsequently used these translations as a reference instead of the original texts. For this purpose, certain passages from the Estoria de España and the General estoria that are translations of fragments of the Pharsalia, the Historia regum Britanniae and Heroide VII are analysed. |
