description The fantastic tale is, par excellence, the discourse of the bewilderment, confronting the man to his own fears through the construction of a disturbingly strange climate in a realistic context. Although its origins go back to Horace Walpole's Gothic novel in the 18th century, the fantasy genre is strongly reaffirmed in Belgium in the 20th century thanks to Franz Hellens, Jean Ray, and Jean Muno’s novels among others. More recently, the supernatural has been brought closer to reality by Jean-Baptiste Baronian, who places it in the transgression of everyday life. In this work, we study the distinctive features of Baronian's fantastic narrative from a translation perspective: we define the elements that must be privileged in the translational process, design the translation objectives and present our translation into Spanish, justifying the techniques and procedures used according to the taxonomy abridged by Hurtado Albir (2017).
