description The article develops the ideas of Naum Lazarevich Leiderman about a style as one of the deepest laws of artistic creativity and about the mechanisms of style-forming and inertia of style as the crucial factors of creative process. Following the works by M. Tsvetaeva of the 1920-ies years as an example, we consider the phenomenon of ―style drive‖. The interaction of irrational and rational origins in Tsvetaeva‘s poetry is investigated. The style analysis of one of Tsvetaeva‘s concept poems, «Minuta», reveals the role of poetic etymology, consonance, rhythm and syntax in unfolding of emotional experience and the conflict between the poet and time, and the creation of common expression. The emphasis is put on poetics of the division into syllables and the expanded sound metaphor. It is concluded that the Tsvetaeva‘s poem follows the ode-like stylistic tradition. The article raises a question about an interaction between the style drive and other lines of the poem.
