Description
Summary:Health care institutions are of vital significance at the time of the disasters. The studies in the prior literature generally look at the hospital disaster plans and their existence as well as the preparedness level of the hospitals to the disasters. Almost all of these studies do not have a theoretical framework. The objective of this study is to comprehensively review the literature related to the hospitals’ situation during the disasters. Also, a theoretical model has been developed based on the limitations of the prior literature. In the theoretical model, the impact of technical capabilities, such as information technology infrastructure, hospital support systems, medical and communication infrastructure, and managerial capabilities on hospital disaster performance has been examined. In addition, it was also proposed that these relationships are influenced by several contextual factors, including hospital size, type, experience with disasters, province, location, and foundation year
