Summary:Two sulfhydryl functionalized initiators with different structures were synthesized by functionalized initiator method with two sulfur-containing organic compounds, sulfhydryl functionalized solution polymerized styrene-butadiene (SSBR) rubber was prepared by active polymerization of butadiene and styrene. The results showed that the two sulfhydryl functionalized initiators had high initiation efficiency, polymerization conversion and activity stability; the pre prepared and in-situ prepared initiators could initiate polymerization, and the product structure had little difference. When the molar ratio of organic sulfide to n-butyl lithium was 1.05/1.00, the degree of sulfhydryl functionalization of the polymer was high. The sulfhydryl functionalized initiator had the same polymerization regulation ability. In addition, the mechanical properties, wear resistance and binder content of sulfur functionalized SSBR prepared from 2-methyl-1,3-dithiane were better than those of sulfhydryl functionalized SSBR prepared from benzyl methyl sulfide.
