description | In the periods of peace and freedom Serbian nation has tried to organize all spheres of social life in order to improve its young generations, the whole population and building up of the country in accordance with time needs. It has proven to be like that in the case of opening the primary school in Žerovnica near Zvečan, after the World War I. The primary school in this place began with its work in 1921. in the premises of the private owner. It is clear, therefore, that there were no even basic conditions necessary for work. They had to be created 'by the way'. That is the reason why there were not many pupils even at the time. It is well known that in 1921. there were 19 school boys from the area of Žerovnica, Banov Dol, Sendo and other surrounding villages. As the pupils had to go to school to Banjska until then, this presented an improvement and a relief for children and their parents as well. Until the beginning of the World War II a new school building was built including the flat for the teacher. The school was opened in 1925. It had a large classroom, wide hall and a flat for the teacher. In that school building in the school year 1940/1941. 63 pupils attended the classes out of which there were 25 girls. During the World War II the difficulties are appearing and everything accompanying the war. In 1964. the constructions of new school building were completed, so the teaching had been going on the premises, with occasional renovation, until the present day. |
