description The aim of the work. Paleographic study of the Charter issued by the Ecumenical Patriarchal See of the Great Church of Constantinople regarding the Kamianets-Podilskyi Diocese, which became part of the Ottoman Empire in 1678, a critical edition of the text of a Greek document with a translation into Ukrainian. The methodology involves the use of comparative and empirical methods of researching historical documents using special methods of archeography, codicology and paleography. Scientific novelty. For the first time, a paleographic and textological study of the Charter was carried out, the accompanying and registration records are presented and commented, the original Greek text, its translation into Ukrainian and illustrations are presented. Conclusions. The Charter of Patriarch Jacob of Constantinople about the Kamianets-Podilskyi Diocese was preserved in the collection of the Lviv Greek Catholic Capitula and was tansfered to Kyiv along with the archives of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi. The Chartrer was issued in accordance with the organizational goals of the Ecumenical See to support the Orthodoxy on the lands of the Ottoman Empire. The Patriarch argues for the appointment by the Metropolitan of the Diocese, Honorable and Exarch of Little Russia, the former Bishop of Lidoriki Pankratius (Achilleas) and calls on all Orthodox of the Diocese to obey him as legally elected at the Patriarchal Council in Constantinople. The text of the document was drawn up in Greek and signed by the Ecumenical Patriarch Jacob. The charter was written by the scribe of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, John Kariofillis. The given letter of the Ecumenical See reflects the history of the Ukrainian Orthodox Dioceses in the era of confessional and ethnic movements, state and regional conflicts of the second half of the 17th century.
