The paper aims to present the activity and creation of composer and teacher Zeno Vancea during his youth when he worked at the Conservatory in Târgu Mureș. Five of his works, found in the manuscript in the library of the Târgu Mureș Philharmonic, are testimonies of the composer`s musical language evolution in the years of his youth under the impulse of the multiple stylistic directions at the beginning of the 20th century. The musical works written during this period represent a brilliant synthesis between national and universal, the tendencies of the avant-garde of European modernity and the tradition of the Romanian folk modalism. |
