Conversion of the condition of Halictus quadricinctus (Fabricius, 1776) (Hymenoptera: Halictidae) cells contents under the influence of abiotic and biotic factors of the environment

The analysis of the impact of soil humidity on survival of offspring and the condition of Halictus quadricinctus cells contents was studied. Only in 0.9% of the cells larvae died as a result of fungi development, even after the emergence of the imago fungi have developed on the excrements only in 1....

description The analysis of the impact of soil humidity on survival of offspring and the condition of Halictus quadricinctus cells contents was studied. Only in 0.9% of the cells larvae died as a result of fungi development, even after the emergence of the imago fungi have developed on the excrements only in 1.8% of the cells. Saccharomyces sp. and Mucor  sp. were found on pollen balls as well as on excrements. Low for ground nesting bees percentage of cells infected by fungi was caused by nesting in compacted sandy loam soil and some features of the nest architecture such as cavity which separated cells from the surrounding soil and the secretory lining of the cells. Changes in the structure of excrements in the cells associated with fluctuations in soil humidity were noted.
