Description
Summary:This paper aims to explore the relationship of structure and meaning in the short stories “Kucing” by Toni Lesmana and “Kucing Hitam” by Edgar Allan Poe. This paper is a comparative literary study with the Levi-Strauss mythological structuralism study model. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The result shows that through the mythicization of the black cat, the two short stories try to reveal the dominance of gender in the opposite domestic area. The difference in dominance is represented through the relational structure of the short story which is oppositional.
