Summary: | The article deals with the problem of chronic constipation in children. Recommendations for the prevention of this condition are provided. It is stressed that drug administration is recommended to be used only when there is no effect of diet therapy, which is not reduced to a strict diet or compliance with certain medical diet, but to a physiological diet. There are currently available formulas meeting the guidelines of the European Union concerning the nutrition of special medical purposes which combines multiple functional components that enables to solve the problem of functional constipations in infants who are bottle-fed. An example of such innovative formula is Nutrilon Comfort. |
