The importance of addressing climate change in the agrifood sector and its impact on producers' incomes are introduced. Climate-Smart Agriculture and its core principles are defined. The significance of adopting climate-smart practices for the agrifood industry is discussed, emphasizing the potential benefits in terms of productivity, resilience, and income generation for producers. Key climate-smart innovations, including precision agriculture techniques, sustainable farming practices, and the role of digital platforms and data analytics, are highlighted. Real-world examples of agrifood businesses and organizations implementing climate-smart innovations are presented, outlining the benefits and limitations of their approaches. The challenges faced in implementing climate-smart innovations, such as financial barriers, technological limitations, and knowledge gaps, are discussed. Future directions for climate-smart innovations are presented, including the adoption of digital technologies, backchain robotics, 3D printing, and virtual/augmented reality. Overcoming challenges related to cost, accessibility, technical expertise, and resistance to change is crucial for successful implementation.
