Description
Summary:Listening comprehension is a major difficulty for French students and can constitute an important obstacle for those graduates who want to become teachers, as a government decree imposes they take a B2 level exam in foreign languages. The number of hours offered in traditional classes is insufficient for the students who enter the master's degree with an A2 level or lower. An online course was therefore designed for those students, in the form of video clips that aim at developing listening comprehension strategies and oral skills. An experiment was led during two years, which included a one-year research. We tried to improve the students' perceived self efficacy in order to lower anxiety for the test they had to take at the end of the semester, and tried to assess our course through students' perceived ease of use and usefulness. We also questioned which strategies seemed most appropriate to develop listening skills. The program is an example of adaptation thanks to digital tools, and shows how a higher education institution tried to adapt to the heterogeneity of the students' level.
