description The article deals with the need to form the system of professional competence of the personnel of the State Fiscal Service (SFS) in Ukraine. It is mentioned that the level of satisfaction of the bodies of the SFS on the regional and, especially, district levels in highly qualified personnel at this time is not sufficient, the lack of professional competence of specialists is especially sharp under the control­inspection work, which requires a creative approach to solving tasks, using all available information resources, including external (for the fiscal body) environment. Trends in reforming the Civil service in Ukraine, including SFS, in the modern complex socio­political and economic conditions are in reducing the number of officials. That requires continuous increase of efficiency of the officials work. This is possible provided a systematic increase of an official’s own professional competence, and requires to create by the SFS management the necessary conditions and opportunities for continuous training of the personnel throughout their work in the Fiscal Service. The requarements to competencies and training and in­service training principles for the SFS officials are described. Ways of increasing efficiency of their activities in difficult conditions of permanent changes in the business environment, legal area and external challenges on the way of integration of Ukraine into the European Union are substantiated.
