Summary:Globalization is a worldwide process of planetary scale, which means the domination of the West, and America, hence the name of Westernization or Americanization. In terms of globalization, the world is dominated and/or governmental interest, power, military and economic power, which can result in a reduction of the importance of national identity of small nations and peoples. Preservation of national identity is not only defensive mechanisms in politics, but also in history, tradition, culture, economy and other spheres of civic and cultural life of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohia. By redefining the national identity of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohia and branding of historical, cultural and economic achievements during the period of globalization, international public and politicians would be presented a positive image of Serbian culture, history and economy of Kosovo and Metohia, which is mainly known for its world wars and ethnic conflicts. This paper presents the results of research conducted in the second half of 2011, the sample of 218 residents in the villages of Strpce. Data collected by the survey were analysed by factor analysis, t-test and analysis of variance. Factor analysis extracted two factors which population estimate: national identity and national image. T-test showed that there were significant differences in the assessment of the population according to sex, and analysis of variance, depending on the educational level of the population on the importance and the need to redefine the national identity of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohia in the period of globalization.
