Summary: | It is obvious that written sources may have lack of information and most of their items are copied data from previous texts. While there is no considerable issue especially related to the local history of Iran during Seljuk period in Ravandi's Rahat al-Sodoor or Bondari's Zobdat al-Nosra, all of their items have been restated and summarized in sources such as Rozat al-Safa in posterior centuries. Thus other sources such as reliefs, seals, tablets and coins can reveal the dark side of Iran history during Seljuk period. Therefore this article will examine a coin from Seljuk era which have not been introduced yet and can be recognized as one of the historical documents from the outset of Seljuk's rule in Jurjan. This coin will also resolve some points in Seljuk written sources. The aim of this article is to describe the eve of Seljuk's rule in Jurjan and Tabaristan according to coins and historical texts while introducing a local ruler named Mardavij ibn Beshu- Bessu- who was subordinate of Tughril Beg and Abbasid Caliph. |
