Summary:Population growth is the product of mass immigration and the consequent rapid urbanization of towns and villages as Argentina went through in the final decades of the nineteenth century were among the most important advances of the moment. In this context, poverty has acquired a sense of danger was visible in the figure of vagrants, beggars and especially for our interest, children roaming the streets begging or work in jobs that kept long hours outside the home when they had one.The aim of this paper is, in the context of modernization and development of urbanization that crossed the central and southern Buenos Aires receiving the local society was the presence of children in the streets, and if there were some differences in that reception in relation to gender.We propose a first approach takes over such local press about it, to contrast then a second instance documents of the Defense of Children and local Police, in order to problematize perception.
