Description
Summary:This contribution intends to retrace some themes of Franco Cassano’s work and his interpretation of the South connected to all the South of the world, for the construction of ‘meridian thought’. After a determination of the methodological basis of his research and of the critique of each monistic model in the social sciences, the fundamental characteristics of meridian thought are presented as a claim for the autonomy of the South and as critical thinking of moments that characterize modernity. Finally, it is noted that one of the fundamental purposes of his research is constituted by the theoretical-practical definition of a ‘new universality’ that emancipates itself from the ‘evil infinity of domination’ and from the idea of the ‘conflict between civilizations’
