| Summary: | <em>Imboacica Lagoon is an ecosystem heavily impacted by economic growth driven by oil and gas industry. These impacts, such as disordered land occupation, dilution of untreated domestic sewage and industrial effluents without proper monitoring can be perceived throughout the water body. Despite of its many environmental problems, this ecosystem has outstanding scenic beauty and its ecological importance has been exhaustively studied, regarding its actual and possible uses, among which fishing can be detached. Regarding strategic localization and environmental relevance of Imboacica Lagoon, this work aims to identify possible vegetation fragments in order to propose the creation of a Conservation Unit to reinforce environmental protection for the site. To do so, besides literature search, a survey of nearby Conservation Units in conjunction with a research on water and land uses in Imboacica Lagoon surroundings was done. Thus, it was possible to indicate priority areas for conservation of biodiversity and water resource sustainability.</em> |
