Description
Summary:Our physiological connection with the air through respiration and olfaction creates a unique bond with the environment in which we live, marked by notable qualities such as porosity, penetration, and impregnation. This article consolidates theoretical perspectives that orbit around smells, examined through the prism of a phenomenology of the body. It delves into the physical act of breathing, which is perceived as an elemental sensitivity. Amongst the many sensations we experience, those that involve breathing are distinctly intertwined with its rythm and its vital nature, thereby enabling a heightened awareness of passage, transmission, and boundaries. The association between olfactory perception and the process of respiration provides considerable insight into its physiological significance and underscores the manner in which we are inextricably linked to the world.
