Description
Summary:The n-pentane hydroisomerization on HBEA zeolite modified with platinum is an alternative route to the selective and efficient transformation to plus value products. An acid zeolite BEA was solid state ion exchanged with a platinum salt. The effects of the carrier gas composition (H2/N2 ratio), of the reaction temperature (150 to 350°C), platinum loading (0.2 a 1.5 %w/w) and Si/Al ratio were studied. The global conversion increased with both increasing H2/N2 and temperature. The isomerization selectivity increased when temperature decreased and H2/N2 ratio increased. A maximum in the yield to isopentane was obtained for the catalyst of 0.78 % Pt and ratio Si/Al = 12. For this catalyst selectivity to isopentane of 98%and conversion of 45 % was obtained.
