Summary: | The aim of this article is to analyse how the youth of popular suburbs catch or not the opportunity of participation which they are confronted to, how they understand it and, at last, what can be the consequences on the public powers ‘side. So, the first part consists in analysing the way its vulnerability causes specific brakes to their implication in participative projects. In reaction to this, the second part attempts to show in what way the conflict provokes by a part of the youth involved in the suburbs may facilitate there participation. Here, the analysis will go on showing how these conflicts face the public powers and the professional of youth because they often are in contradiction with the goals fixed by them to the participation. The contradiction between appeal to the participation and the setting of participation will be pointed to.
