In the analyzed period, there was an increase in sugarcane production in both countries. It is observed that in Brazil, the tendency is for sugar mills to use land leasing or sharecropping contracts. In Peru, new sugarcane mills mainly use their own land. The access to land through agrarian contracts can be a factor of sustainability of the sugarcane agribusiness. |
