| description | A rich algal assemblage at the Kozica locality, in the northern foothills of Mt. Biokovo, contains, among other forms, <em>Praturlonella salernitana</em> BARATTOLO. In addition, the descriptions of <em>Clypeina bucuri</em> BARATTOLO & ROMANO and <em>C. lucana </em>BARATTOLO & ROMANO are updated, and the originally described <em>Clypeina teakolarae </em>RADOIČIĆ et al., has been tentatively transferred to the genus <em>Falsolikanella </em>GRANIER; hence <em>Falsolikanella</em>? <em>teakolarae </em>n. comb. <em>Falsolikanella</em>? <em>macropora </em>n. sp. is described, characterized by probable metaspondyle growth of clearly phloiophorous branches, differentiated individually into a narrow stalk and very long, markedly widened, outer part. Based on the algal assemblage as a whole, together with benthic and planktonic foraminifers, the stratigraphic position of the algal-bearing level has been defined as Ypresian (lowermost Eocene).<br /> |
