Description
Summary:After performing a common mission about preserving and giving access to records and archives produced during archeological excavations, two curators, national inspectors in cultural heritage, an archeologist and a archivist wanted to examine archeologist’s relationships to records and archives. The question is based on 3 axis: an archeologist create records when he manages archeological operations; he studies archives when he searches some historical information and he can store and preserve records, archives and generally, what is now called « data », in some special buildings such as « Centres de conservation et d’études ». In spite of these obvious interactions, relationships between archeological and archival administrations (particularly regional and local archives institutions) are not so developed and not so clear, because of a lack of common vocabulary. Actually some misunderstanding may exist. Nevertheless, there are some interesting collaborations between archeologists and archivists, which could be more developped and known as professional actions, creating value for professional networks and publics.
