Description
Summary:The paleogeothermal conditions in the Swiss Molasse basin (Tertiary foredeep sediments north of the Alps) have been investigated by means of coalification studies. These data suggest a generally low-temperature geothermal regime in the Molasse basin which apparently prevailed since the deposition of the sediments. In the light of these findings some general trends for the hydrocarbon potential can be specified; corresponding exploration targets are delineated.
