One synthetic strategy is similar to that used for pentaphenylferrocenyl di-tert-butylphosphine.
The penta-4-pyridyl derivative was prepared in two steps from ferrocene. A second strategy involving a Suzuki cross-coupling reaction with a penta-bromoaryl scorpionate is presented.
