and Devil veneration where the main subjects of the chronics. The illustrations of
Theodor De Bry‟s book called Americae are in the midst of other responsible by the
insertion of those representations on European imaginary. In the chronics, Indian Chiefs
and Shamans are constantly represented like responsible to execute the Devil wishes on
Earth and also guilty for conduce other Indian to ruin. The association of Indian with
the Devil is present on several books engraves of the 16th century, like those that
illustrate the book Americae, object of analysis on this article. |
