| Summary: | This works aims to analyze the performance of Companhia Regional de Habitação de Interesse
Social – COHAB-CRHIS - in the city of Araçatuba/SP. Due to the period of perfomance, mainly,
since the 1980 decade, in the period of operation of the Banco Nacional de Habitação - BNH, a
research was conducted on how economic estate agents acted in the territorial expansion of the
Araçatuba City by the means of complexes housing construction of social interest. Complexes
housing of social interest are produced to supply the incoming of housing deficit, looking for a
portion of population which is unable to afford his own house, thus, they become dependend on
state actions and specific organs to achieve the desired dream of homeownership. This Work
discusses the main role of COHAB-CRHIS in meeting the housing needs of a city of interior of São
Paulo, Araçatuba, in the period creation of the Companhia and what your current role with the
new housing policies, with the resumption of housing production through policies of federal
government, with the Minha Casa Minha Vida
