Description
Summary:A cultural history approach to late French historian Bartolomé Bennassar´s work is launched analyzing some titles in which he highlighted art and artists as a way to combine serial history with case studies. The major role played by cultural aspects in the fabrication of an image of Spain and Spaniards in early modern France is also evoked, emphasizing the relevance of French travelers in creating an alleged Spanish character finally embodied in the topic of the so called "Cosas de España". Also, it is proposed the urgent need to promote a deep debate on its reception, and even the response to it, in the Habsburg Spain.
