Summary:Recent linguistic changes in marital language of the Catholic Church from the Second Vatican Council, are explained in order to highlight new aspects of the nature of marriage. This article investigates the keys for interpreting this new language, especially referring to the primary aim of marriage: the «good of the spouses». Focused on the thought of Karol Wojtyla / John Paul II, being the author responsible for two thirds of the Catholic Church teachings on marriage throughout its history. The good of spouses interpreted by the thinking of John Paul II, is the new being and relationships that happen to a man and a woman, precisely because of the changes they have to make by hemselves when becoming a communion of love and correct life.
