| Summary: | The article tells us about the history of geological exploration in Western Siberia during the First world war. The activity of the joint-stock company Kopikuz in the period of 1913-1917 in Western Siberia is considered. It is noted in the article that Kopikuz carried out quite significant geological prospecting works with the use of magnetic exploration throughout the Western outskirts of Telbes district in search of the ore base of ferrous metallurgy in this period. The aim of the work is to study the Siberian rear of the country, which performed in proportion to its resources and opportunities for the economic support of the army and the development of iron ore base of ferrous metallurgy, focused on defense needs. In accordance with the goal, the following tasks are formed in the article: - to consider the activities of Central and local authorities to attract the industrial and raw potential of Western Siberia for the development of the country and the local region; - to assess the financial support of exploration to expand the raw material base of ferrous metallurgy in 1914-1918.
