Scientific communication on social networks: an analysis of divulgative writing on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
This paper deals with Italian written language used for scientific disclosure on social network platforms. The aim is to describe its use, verifying whether and which typical linguistic phenomena of online written language are employed. The results show that the language used by communicators on social networks like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter presents both traits typical of blogging and micro-blogging writing as well as phenomena characterizing scientific language. In conclusion, the paper focuses on the importance of online writing education to improve students’ language skills. |
