| Summary: | Starting from a corpus of epilinguistic discourses of Alsatian speakers, this article aims at questioning the notion of identity, in its relationship to the local dialect, to the French language and to the German language. The composite nature of identity (notably dynamic and interactive) is first recalled, which obliges us to prefer, following social psychology, that of identitarian strategies. The application of this framework to the most current representations among the mainstream population shows that the Alsatian context is generally perceived as specific. It also allows the emergence of mainly negative traits attached to both the Germanic dialects and the regional variety of French in Alsace. This results in various forms of identity crisis, more or less alienating depending on the resources available to the social actors to analyse their individual situation and their relationship to their languages. |
