Description
Summary:Ecclesiastes speaks of a man and the glory of God! The thesis of the book is that there is no happiness on Earth for a man without God in heaven. This constitutes its literary basis. The story of a man who honors God! is probably the earliest instance of decadence in a man in the world of literature. Narrator of Ecclesiastes is son of David, king of Jerusalem, therefore Solomon, the king sage. Unlike his stories (Proverbs) which are characterized by a bright, optimistic tone; this book of the preacher, by contrast, reflects, in Biblical terms, incredible pessimism and skepticism as well as the complete disdain for the worldly values. The preacher was suspicious of the conventional view that the righteous should be rewarded. Ecclesiastes raises the question of the meaning of human life. In all this it is a unique phenomenon in the Bible. Its author is convinced that he was a complete pessimist. However, 'he was not the most pessimistic in the world' as, stated. The aim of the book is actually the same to indicate the value of moral virtue, of radiant wisdom that justifies faith in God. Accordingly, the preacher also clearly indicates the faith in God as the only lasting value. This is particularly noticeable in the final thoughts when the author rounds out his narrative, brilliantly illuminating!.
