Description
Summary:The law practiced by political institutions in Ben Ali’s Tunisia seems particularly malleable and unstable as the pace and nature of institutional change is dictated by political events related to the perpetuation of the authoritarian regime. Such law is designed to make any possibility of a changeover at the head of the State unthinkable while allowing the Tunisian government to take a stance on Tunisia’s resolution to strengthen its commitment to democracy. The recent constitutional and legislative official guidelines governing political life contribute to strictly limiting authoritarian practices while at the same time authorizing them if necessary.
