description Introduction and Aims According to the finding of last decade researches that emotional experiences play a central role in cardiovascular diseases, researchers have been interested in effect of emotion regulation. The purpose of this study was comparing of cognitive emotion regulation factors in cardiovascular patients and normal subjects. Materials and Methods Participants in total were 90 in 3 groups of coronary heart diseases patients, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) recipients and normal subjects. They completed the cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire (CERQ). Multivariate analysis of variance was used for data analysis. Results The finding showed that the mean of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in normal subjects are higher and the mean of maladaptive strategies are lower than subjects with coronary heart disease and ICD recipients. Conclusion Psychological preventive interventions with emphasis on cognitive emotion regulation strategies can be useful. * Corresponding Author: Kharazmi University, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences.
