description The increase of life expectancy at birth and the increase of aged population bring the possibility of encountering more with Alzheimer 's disease which is common among aged people. Physical, behavioral and cognitive changes in elderly patients with Alzheimer's lead to repositioning the elder. In this study, Pandors's Box (2008), a movie about the story of a mother with Alzheimer's, is analyzed within positioning theory. Findings of analysis indicate that patient with Alzheimer's disease is positioned by health care personnel and the family members in two different themes. While health care personnels in accordence with nature of institutional structure positions the mother as "old" and "patient", family members need to alter positions of "the mother" which was predetermined by the family notion and carried on for a long time. This repositioning of Nusret Hanım from "the mother" to a elderly patient with Alzheimer's" has been hard a process for the family members.
