Summary:The paper discusses the issue of detrimental usage of automated machine translation platforms in foreign language education settings and, in the view of steady advances in translation technology, proposes reconsidering language teaching and learning practices to adjust them to the new reality. It also exposes some of the machine translation limitations and formulates strategies for integrating translation apps into the conventional classroom activities and home assignments.
