| description | The archaeological excavations carried out by the University of Udine in collaboration with the Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti Paesaggio FVG at the Bronze Age site of Ca’ Baredi near the Roman Canale Anfora in the area of future Aquileia (Terzo di Aquileia) from 2013 onwards had two main objectives: 1. the reconstruction of the most ancient cultural landscape of the coastal plain where Aquileia would have been founded; 2. the interpretation of the archaeological stratigraphy along with the chrono-typological sequence of the pottery. A sum of the most substantial results is here presented including in particular the identification of six building phases and four chronological horizons, which have been defined by both pottery style and 14C dates. |
